Mhari Ghoomar Che

January 8, 2012 | Leave a Comment

Hi Friends,

How are you? I am fine here.

As I told you in my last post that, over the past few days, I was preparing for my solo dance performance that was to be held on 8th January 2012.

Well, today is 8th January, and I performed the Ghoomar dance in front of a large audience at a nearby auditorium. Papa told me that around 300 people watched me and my friends dance to various songs taught to us by our wonderful Kathak dance teacher, Shweta ma’am.

Anyways, as Mummy told me a few days ago, Ghoomar is a traditional women’s folk dance of Rajasthan. It is performed by groups of women in swirling robes, and accompanied by men and women singing together.

This folk dance gets its name from ‘ghoomna’, the round-and-round-and-round movement of the body that displays the spectacular colors of the flowing ‘ghaghara’, the long skirt of the Rajasthani women.

So here I am, in my Ghoomar dress, jewellery, makeup, and mehendi…all prepared by the world’s best Mumma – my Mumma…

And here is the full video of my Ghoomar dance. I danced on the famous Rajasthani song – “Mhari Ghumar Che…”

Here is a group photo of my fellow dancers after the show was over (Shweta ma’am is standing on the extreme left)…

So that was about the latest that’s happening for me on the dance front.

Talking about studies, I’ve to sit for the second Level of my IIO (International Informatics Olympiad) exam on the 18th of this month. So it’s all hard work (and less play) for the next 10 days 🙁

By the way, I forgot to tell you that my Bade Papa, Badi Mummy, and my 2 big brothers – Aditya and Garv Bhaiya – were here to celebrate the New Year with us.

Here is a happy moment we shared together. I am missing them a lot, and hope they are missing me too.

And here is Chaitanya, asking me to give him a tight hug 🙂

Rest is all fine.

I’ve to go and sleep now. It’s already very late here, and I’m very tired after today’s dance performance.

You take care of yourself. And wish me all the best for my IIO exam.

I love you.

Little baby,
Kavya

Bye-Bye Wonderful 2011…Welcome 2012!

Hi Friends,

I know you were missing me for not being here for so many days…but you see I was so busy ever since my birthday on 2nd November.

By the way, here is a snap from my birthday party.

Now you may ask where I was busy all these days.

Well, first I was preparing for the International Informatics Olympiad, where I ranked 169 among all the participants from Class 1 around the world. I scored 95% marks, and have cleared for the 2nd round.

Then, I was busy practicing for my solo dance performance that will be held on 8th January 2012. I’ll be performing a Ghoomar dance in front of a large audience so I’ve been practicing really hard for that.

Then, most importantly, I’ve been very busy taking care of my baby brother Chaitanya, who completed 7 months today.

Chatty, as I call him, is now a grown up boy…as you can see here…

And then, it was my Papa’s birthday on 7th December which we celebrated by cutting this cake…

Finally, I was part of the Christmas celebration in my school, so I had to practice for that as well…

Anyways, today is the last day of 2011, which has been such a wonderful year for me.

First, I got the best gift of my life in the form of Chaitanya, and then just 2 days back, my Priyanka mausi gave birth to a sweet little baby girl.

So now I’ve become Didi to 2 most wonderful babies in this world. So much responsibility on my small shoulders you see!

As for the New Year 2012, I’ve promised Papa-Mummy that I’ll become a better girl – study hard, dance hard, eat healthy, sleep early, wake up early, and live well.

To you, I promise to be more regular here.

Wishing you a very happy New Year 2012 from myself, Chatty, Mummy, and Papa!

Take care. Enjoy your New Year party!

See you in 2012.

I love you.

Little baby,
Kavya

Happy Birthday to Me

Hi Friends,

In less than 30 minutes, I will turn seven years of age.

Yes, it’s my birthday on 2nd November (it’s also Shahrukh Khan’s birthday :-)), and I am so happy.

I will be distributing chocolates in my class, and everyone will sing me the birthday song.

A Day of Dance, Dance, and Dance

September 3, 2011 | Leave a Comment

Hi Friends,

First of all Happy Ganesh Chaturthi to you all! Hope Ganesha showers His blessings and love on you, your friends, your family and everyone else you know.

It has been fun past few days.

Our society has organized a 4-day Ganesh puja, and there have been several events that I’ve enjoyed a lot.

Like on Thursday, I sang a bhajan and everyone clapped. Papa said that I won’t be able to sing without practice, but I told him, “Papa, I can sing it well. You just see.”

He agreed, and I really sang well…going by the applause I received from the audience, and from Papa.

Then today, I had my second on-stage dance performance (the first one was last year). It was a dance festival at the Hare Rama Hare Krishna temple out here, and I danced to the music of ‘Yashomati Maiya’.

Here I am just before the dance…

Here is the video of my dance that Papa had clicked. Sadly, Mumma was not able to see my live performance as she was home with Chaitanya.

In this video, for those of you who can’t recognize me, I am the one in the centre with the red dupatta. And anyways you can recognize me as Papa kept the camera’s focus on me.

Enjoy this video and send me your feedback on my performance. By the way, my entire make up has been done by my Mumma, and that’s why I’m looking so nice in this video.

Here is the photo that was clicked after my dance performance. This is my dance teacher’s group. I am sitting in the front row, third from right.

By the way, after this stage performance, I had to rush for a dance competition in my society.

I reached the stage by 9.30 pm, finished my performance by 9.33 pm, and was awarded the 2nd prize by 9.35 pm. 🙂

Here I am, dancing on the stage for the second time today…

So it was a great day today!

Talking about my little baby Chaitanya, he completed 3 months last Wednesday.

He is now of 3.5 kg, and has started resembling like me, though he sometimes also resembles like Papa and sometimes like Mumma.

I have clicked some photos of him, and here are two that I like the best…

Look at the expression on Chaitanya’s face. He really enjoys getting his photos clicked!

Anyways, one bad news – after many-many-many holidays over the past 2-3 weeks, now my school will be open for a long time without any long holiday.

Rest is all fine. You say, how’s life treating you?

Take care. I love you!

Little baby,
Kavya

Thank You, Bhaiya!

Hi Friends,

First of all, a very happy Raksha Bandhan to you all!

Today I celebrated my first Raksha Bandhan with my baby brother…my bhaiya…Chaitanya.

I felt so happy to tie the rakhi on his tiny wrist, while he was dressed up in his trendiest clothes.

Here I am with Chaitanya…tying him the rakhi…even as he’s busy sleeping.

And see this…here is the rakhi gift Chaitanya has given me…wow!

Papa took me to the shop saying that it’s a surprise. And it was really such a pleasant surprise! 🙂

Thank you so much for such a beautiful gift, bhaiya!

I love you so much…even more than I love this beautiful bicycle.

You are the best gift God has given me, and I love you more than anything else in this world.

By the way friends, today is also my Baba’s birthday, and he has turned 62 years of age.

Happy Birthday Baba! I love you a lot.

That’s all for now. I will be back soon with more updates on Chaitanya and my plans for the coming long weekend.

Take care. I love you.

Little baby,
Kavya
